MENTAL AND PHYSICAL BENEFITS OF MEDITATION

There are many ways to meditate and there are many resources and guidelines available on the internet, on CDs, in books. It does not mater which style and medium you choose to suite your needs. All you need is a few minutes (5 to begin with then increase gradually) of alone quiet time and consistency. As with anything in life- practice makes perfect. So the more you explore which style or method is right for you, the more you practice your meditation; the more benefits you will experience.
Mental Benefits of Meditation
Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an Alpha state that promotes healing. The mind becomes fresh, delicate and beautiful. With regular practice of meditation:
* Anxiety decreases
* Emotional stability improves
* Creativity increases
* Happiness increases
* Intuition develops
* Gain clarity and peace of mind
* Problems become smaller
* Meditation sharpens the mind by gaining focus and expands through relaxation
Physical Benefits of Meditation
With meditation, the physiology undergoes a change and every cell in the body is filled with more prana (energy). This results in joy, peace, enthusiasm as the level of prana in the body increases.
On a physical level, meditation:
* Lowers high blood pressure
* Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
* Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
* Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behavior
* Improves the immune system
* Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy

Pineapple Smoothie to Cleanse and Refresh.

Ingredients
½ pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
½ cup cashews, soaked
1 cup coconut water
1 cup pineapple juice
1 lime, juiced
¼ cup coconut meat
2 tablespoons coconut cream
2 dates, pitted (optional for sweetness)
Garnish
1 lime, cut into wedges
Directions:
-Add pineapple chunks, cashews, coconut water, pineapple juice, lime
juice, coconut meat, and coconut cream into a high-speed blender and
process until smooth.
-Add dates, for optional added sweetness.
-Pour into glass and serve with lime garnish

Yoga Nidra Meditation

Yoga nidra is a series of mind, body, and awareness techniques that will help you fall asleep and stay asleep. It relieves insomnia by allowing you to disengage from thoughts and other stressors and to experience deep relaxation.
20 minutes of yoga nidra is said to be equivalent to 3 hours of sleep!  By inducing the ‘relaxation response’, the body’s natural healing state, Yoga Nidra turns the healing switch on in the nervous system, allowing your body to heal, prevent illness, and also to fall and stay sleep!  Yoga Nidra helps to retrain your nervous system to relax on its own.

Sun Breath: Invigorates Your Body

Follow these simple steps to enrich your daily routines and increase your vigor and stamina:
Stand in a comfortable position, with arms down at your side and your fingers together.
Inhale and raise your arms up.
Exhale as you lower your arms back down to your side.
Move your arms with control, timing your arm movements with your breath.
Repeat 5 times.
Notice the invigorating effect of this breath-work on your body.
